Ernest William Scarce
Ernest was born in Blaxhall in 1896 to William & Julia.After enlisting at Bury St Edmunds he serving as a private in the 7th Battalion of the Sussex Regiment when killed in action on the 8th of October 1916 near Guedecourt in France.
With no body ever being recovered Ernest's name was added to the 65,000 others recorded on the Thiepval Memorial as "missing" between July and and November 1916 in what would become known as The Battle of the Somme.
