I found a mention on the internet of an August 2009 article in the Huddersfield Daily Examiner that the BAG was looking for relatives of a WWI serviceman 4581 Bejamin Richardson killed at Fromelles 1916. He is amongst a group of AIF servicemen I am also researching. Was there any responnse of findings following this article ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, especially a photo.
Regards,
Geoff

Firstly to say congratulations to all concerned with this website - very interesting and informative. I am tracing my ancestors and wondered if anyone knows about Isaac Moore who was born (in 1786) and lived all his life in Blaxhall as a shepherd (one of many I guess!!. According to records he married Emelia and had a son (Isaac born 1825) and a daughter (Sarah born 1826). Isaac Moore Jnr followed in his fathers footsteps and became a shepherd. If anyone has any more details or photos that would be great.
Many thanks.

Congratulations on an excellent website. I listened to a BBC Radio 4 programme today on George Ewart Evan's recordings of Blaxhall people in the 1950s, and it brought back many memories of growing up on a farm near Bungay, Suffolk. The reference in the programme to smuggling in Blaxhall and Iken also interested me because my Great Grandfather George Creasy lived in Iken in the 1870/1880s and married Jane Hurren from Kelsale. I wonder if there's any information in your archives about them.

many years ago my grandfather William Caines had a chicken farm in Blaxhall, he also kept a few pigs. I remember riding on one of the pigs and also have a photo of me holding a chicken with a bandaged leg.Does anyone remember him? he died when I was 8, so that was in 1959. I have many happy memories of walks to Woodbridge and along the coast, also to Iken.

You must be fed up with this one but what,if any,is the significance of the stone incorporated into the village sign? My walking group had an lovely circular walk from (followed by an good lunch at)The Ship last Sunday and we all wondered but forgot to ask.

With thanks.

The stone in the sign is representative of the Blaxhall Stone, which can be found at Stone Farm - thanks, Jonathan

First of all, thank you for all the work on this project. I am the son of Mary Elizabeth (Thurston) Johnson and grandson of Ernest and Maud Thurston. I just got into learning about the Thurston and Newson family tree. I will keep checking back on the progress of this site.

Thanks,
Gary

I have been trying to trace my family tree and I think my Great, Great Grandfather (Jonathan Pratt) married a Lucy Jay from Blaxhall in 1840. Also Ron Ellis mentioned that his wife was related to the Pratt family from Little Glenham - me too!

I am the grand daughter of Arthur Row(e) born in Blaxhall in 1883. Are there any Rows still in the village?
